Sunshine Blogger Award

Recently I was checking my Twitter account and responding to comments when I noticed a message from Lisa who writes over at Fluxing Well, she’d read my blog and nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award! The Sunshine Blogger Award is peer recognition for bloggers who inspire positivity and joy. This meant that all of my time spent writing and editing this blog was being noticed! Thank you, Lisa!  Lisa is a super-supportive Twitter pal. You can follow her on Twitter @fluxingwell. Lisa is a school librarian by day. She blogs about handling change and coping well with unexpected situations. You should check out her blog Fluxing Well.

Before I could get this post written I was surprised to receive a second nomination for the Sunshine Blogger Award.  This time I was nominated by Outside Nomad. I’m humbled to be nominated twice in one week!  The Outside Nomad blogs about the best tips and tricks to make travel easy, fun, and affordable. Check out their blog Outside Nomad. They share beautiful photos of their travel adventures on their Twitter feed @OutsideNomad.

Award Rules

Here are the rules of the Sunshine Blogger Award.  I’m going to combine the answers to the questions from both of the bloggers who nominated me.  I hope that is not violating the rules of the Sunshine Blogger Award.

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you in the blog post and link back to their blog.
2. Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
3. Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
4. List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

Here are my Answers to Lisa’s Questions:

  1. What inspired you to start blogging? My brother has been encouraging me to start blogging for years but I never felt I had the time.  Now that my kids are grown and in college, my husband and I have started to travel more.  The “empty nest” gave me the time I needed to write my blog and the traveling gave me material to write about.
  2. Where do you get your blogging ideas? I mainly write about the trips we take, local adventures, and great restaurants we find along the way.
  3. What is your favorite time-management tip for bloggers? I struggle with this one myself, my best tip would be to schedule blocks of time to do your writing but don’t forget to get some sleep. It is easy for me to start writing and next thing I know it is one a.m. Sleep is important!
  4. What are your biggest blogging challenges? Finding new material to write about when we have not taken a trip for a couple of weeks is a challenge for me.
  5. What was the last gift you gave someone? I gave an infant car seat to my sister who recently had her first baby.
  6. What new flavor of potato chip would you like to create? Yum!  What a great question!  I think something honey mustard flavored would be good.  I love the combination of salty and sweet in my snacks.
  7. What are you well-known for among your family and friends? Problem-solving
  8. What is something funny that has happened to you recently?
  9. What is your favorite movie of all time? I’m going to date myself here but I’d have to say Dirty Dancing (and I don’t mean the Havana Nights version)
  10. What is your favorite smell? The smell of freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies is the best.
  11. What is a favorite inspirational quote? Pray more worry less!

Here are my answers to Outside Nomad’s Questions:

  1. What recently reminded you of how fast time flies? My youngest son graduated high school this year.  Seems like just yesterday my kids were babies.
  2. If you could only keep 5 possessions what would they be? Photo album, toothbrush, slippers, bathrobe, glasses
  3. What’s one thing you would do differently if you could start blogging all over again? Start blogging earlier in life, when my kids were young and we traveled as a family.
  4. If you could witness any event of the past, present, or future, what would it be? Future grandchild’s wedding
  5. What bad habits do you want to break? Staying up too late and not getting enough quality sleep.
  6. Given The Choice Of Anyone In The World, Whom Would You Want As A Dinner Guest? My mom, I’d love to have one more conversation with her.
  7. In One Word, What Do You Live For? Family
  8. What’s the funniest place you’ve ever fallen asleep? Movie theater
  9. Have you ever had a “now or never” moment? Not really, I’m cautious by nature and a planner.
  10. If you could grow up to be famous, what would you want to be famous for? Kindness
  11. How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are? 30
